On behalf of the Eader School staff, welcome to the school year! A very special welcome to our new students and families! We have had a terrific opening at Eader School. We have 654 students enrolled and excited about the learning that the new school year brings. This year we continued our academic growth to reach a 909 API, demonstrating an 8 point growth. Our school is also measured by the percent of students meeting and exceeding proficiency on the California State Standards. This year we have 79.4% of our students in 2nd-5th grade proficient and above in English Language Arts and 84.8% of our students in 2nd-5th grade proficient and above in Math. Since the inception of the STAR Testing program in 1999, Eader has grown by 128 points. This growth is attributed to our committed staff, community partnership, and collaborative efforts between home and school. We continue to examine our practices in challenging economic times with increasing scarcity of resources. As we do, we are faced with making difficult decisions about our priorities with the limited resources we have. However, as with all great organizations, we are resilient by being adaptable, focused, innovative, creative, and seeking the expertise of those around us. What remains constant is our commitment to excellence and quality of instruction for all our students. Our theme is “The Power of One: One Team, One Goal." As the adults in our children’s lives, we model the behavior, problem solving, high expectations we want to see in our children. I am confident that together we will find solutions to our challenges ahead and provide a quality instructional program.
At Eader we ask ourselves four guiding questions:
1) What do we want students to be able to know and do?
2) How will we know that they have learned?
3) What will we do to respond to students who have not learned?
4) What will we do to respond to students who have already learned?
Focus on Learning..
By focusing on the four corollary questions, teachers, parents, students, and the community focuses on increased collaboration, communication, and community, Eader School will continue to improve student learning. Friday assemblies will continue on building community to celebrate students, parents, and staff learning. With the implementation of phone messages, principal’s coffee events, ListServe, and School Site Council meetings the doors of open communication and collaborative conversations about student learning will increase by looking at the individual learning needs of each child.
